Wrocław
We arrive Wrocław early in the afternoon on Sunday the 15th of August and are now a two and a half hour drive from Auschwitz.
We are sleeping over at Andrej’s – I have known him since the early eighties. He was my contact person when I had exhibitions with the Hermansen-project in Poland during the period of martial law in 1983. Back then it was a grey and worn Poland I met. What has happened since then appears almost like a miracle. Now there are colours here, and the people are relieved of finally being a part of the Western alliance.
Andrej is, as always, happy to get visitors. He and Eskil quickly starts talking and we visit some friends and meet with my curator Pawel. We have a nice evening before we go to bed and prepare for the trip tomorrow morning.
